We are proud to have developed a fantastic buddy scheme, which more or less covers the whole of Devon. This means that if you are living in a secluded or rural area, support is never far away. Our parent befrienders have between them experienced a wealth of issues that might crop up for a neonatal parent, from going home on oxygen, surgery, both full term admissions and preemie families, having older siblings to juggle, bereavement and readmissions to just being there for a cuppa and some chat when your other friends and family just might not know what to say! Our buddies can also take you to community meets to introduce you to our friendly wider group, as we all know that sometimes those first introductions can be daunting.
Our SNUG Buddies are there to meet you for coffee, exchange emails or phone calls and to help support your transition into the community after a prolonged stay in hospital. If you would like an informal chat about getting linked up with a buddy in an area near you, then please do email us and we will call you to discuss further details and match you up to a mum or dad.
Equally, if you are a parent who has had experience of neonatal care and you would like to reach out and befriend another parent, please let us know. We are always looking for new buddies and run regular training programs for volunteers.
