Location: The ideal candidate would be based in the Torbay area, with a capability to work throughout South Devon

We’re looking for a Lived Experience Connector – preferably someone who has personal experience of neonatal care and wants to use that insight to support others. This is a unique and flexible opportunity to be part of a meaningful and growing service in the South West

About the Role

As a Lived Experience Connector for Families in Neonatal Care, you’ll draw on your own experience to offer emotional support, understanding, and practical guidance to families navigating neonatal care.

You’ll work directly with families in neonatal units and the community, helping them feel connected, informed, and resilient. This is a varied role with real impact – no two days are the same, and your lived experience is what makes you uniquely qualified.


Key Responsibilities

  • Connect with Families: Build meaningful relationships with families in neonatal care, creating a sense of community and understanding.

  • Provide Individualised Support: Help families identify their needs, listen with empathy, and offer tailored support and signposting.

  • Share Information: Provide educational resources and highlight support available through SNUG and beyond.

  • Facilitate Groups: Co-run safe, inclusive support groups with SNUG volunteers, creating a space for shared experiences and peer support.

  • Monitor Resources: Stay updated on available services and identify any gaps in support or materials.

  • Engage Families: Send invitations and updates about sessions, events, and group activities.

  • Promote Awareness: Use social media and local outreach to support SNUG to raise awareness of neonatal care and support networks.

  • Develop Skills: Attend training and supervision to grow professionally and ensure best practice.
